Mildred Baptist Church - Missions & Ministries
Ghana, Africa

Ghana Missions is opened to anyone who can attend every other Thursday, 9-11 am in the gym. We take used sheets and turn them into bandage strips for the Baptist Clinic located in Ghana (Africa). We continue to need more workers and more sheets. We need donations of clean sheets, flat or fitted, colored, white, any size. Bring them with you to the meetings, along with a pair of scissors or place them in the Adult 5 Sunday School room located near the church office. For those who come to help, sheets have the hems removed, then each is measured into 3-inch strips, cut, strings removed, and rolled into spools. They are packed and mailed to Georgia where they eventually go by ship to Ghana. Participants in this mission project are those who have given sheets, helped on Tuesdays, designed & made rollers, or given money for postage.
Burkina Faso, Africa...
One of our members headed to Africa to lend a helping hand to the locals. She (Rose Rash) and other highly trained medical staff from the Corsicana region volunteered to spend 10 days in the bush. After 33 hours of travel, their first duty was to attend two of the local churches. Rose went with another area church and their blog link is http://stjohnscorsicana.blogspot.com
Here's an exert from their blog...
"We spent another great day in Yagma village. With everyone's help, we treated and medicated with prescriptions that we filled in house about 80 patients. We had lots of parasites, dysentary, STD's, pregnancies, one small child that was paralyzed on one side, and many aches and pains."
Message from Rose Rash:
"Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for your financial support and prayers for my mission trip to Burkino Faso, Africa. Our team was able to see about 500 patients in 4 full days and two half days between the villages of Yagmir and Zombre in the bush. We were never able to see all of the patients. Threre were those people we could help and those we couldn't. What impressed me with the people of the villages is they would patiently wait all day to hopefully see us. And then they were so thankful for whatever we could do even a Tylenol. It was the first mission trip I have been on that I wasn't ready to come home. Thank you again, love Rose."
The Hope Center of Corsicana:
At the center of Navarro County, you will find a pregnancy counseling center for those who are approaching the time of a birth of a child. They are also working to help those going through the decision of giving up the child to adoption or abortion.
Food Bank of Corsicana:
Assisting the community of Corsicana and Navarro County with the food needs of the people.
Mary Hill Davis Offering:
Since 1910, Texas Baptists have collected an offering for missions needs in Texas. In 1935, the Texas Offering was named for Mary Hill Davis, president of WMU of Texas and a tireless supporter of Texas missions. Her leadership in various positions spanned the years from 1898 until her death in 1934.
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering:
Lottie frequently wrote letters to the United States, detailing Chinese culture, missionary life and the great physical and spiritual needs of the Chinese people. Additionally, she challenged Southern Baptists to go to China or give so that others could go. Lottie died aboard a ship in the Japanese harbor of Köbe on Dec. 24, 1912. She was 72 years old. In 1918, Woman's Missionary Union named the annual Christmas offering for international missions after the woman who had urged them to start it.
Annie Armstrong Easter Offering:
Each year, we honor the life and work of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) when we give to the annual offering for North American missions named after her. As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union, for which she served as the first corresponding secretary.
Relay for Life:
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.
Clothing Room:
We have great people of the church who have donated their clothes for those who are in need of them! Everything from newborn to adult clothing. We even have other items such as a wheelchair so, come by and donate, pick out something for a friend or grab what you need. The room is located just around the corner from the front offices at our church. Come and see!East Texas Baptist Prison Hospitality House Ministry:
The East Texas Baptist Prison Hospitality House Ministry exists to minister to families of incarcerated persons in the prison units of the Tennessee Colony area. We are open to family members who live more than 150 miles from our facility. This ministry provides free lodging, meals, and encouragement. We strive to show the love of Christ in real and practical manner. We are truly a "House That Love Built", as the facility was built by all volunteer workers. We pray that all will see God working in great and mighty ways as we work to provide worship services, Bible studies and other ministries to help families build strong and lasting relationships.
